Use a capacity floor supported by metrics
For the calculator’s Basic M1 scope, cost tracks provisioned GiB-hours. Other Memorystore products, Standard tier, replicas, and larger capacities need their own official pricing model. Compare a stable peak memory footprint with a safety margin, not an average memory chart alone.
For example, reducing a two-node 30-GiB configuration to 20 GiB changes provisioned capacity from 60 to 40 GiB for every hour. The nominal saving is 20 × 730 GiB-hours at the selected rate. Validate that the smaller setting still handles the busiest reliable period and recovery behavior.
