EC2 vs Compute Engine: compare a monthly VM estimate

Compare a matched AWS EC2 and Google Compute Engine workload with transparent hours, regions, and pricing assumptions.

Match the machine before comparing price

Choose comparable vCPU, memory, operating system, region, and runtime. A 730-hour month is a useful illustrative baseline; scheduled shutdowns should be represented as fewer hours on both sides.

For example, model one hypothetical VM running 500 hours. Enter each provider’s current hourly rate from its official card and multiply by 500. Add disks, public IPs, snapshots, and egress separately when they are part of the workload.

Limits

Instance families are not perfectly equivalent. Performance, sustained-use discounts, commitments, licensing, and support can change the decision. This calculator is a transparent scenario, not a benchmark or migration quote.

What should I save?

Save machine shape, region, hours, rates, retrieval date, and excluded resources alongside the result.
